(Stuff happens)

Just a quick post on the paints I received, GW forgot to put a label on the mephiston red paint. It's ok, stuff like that happens, just remember to keep the order summary to check the goods, and label accordingly.

Paints and Bitz - Part 1

So yesterday I received my paints and some tools. I'll put up a list of all my tools later for anyone interested, hopefully with pics. I'll also discuss the paint scheme more deeply.

For now, a list of the paints:

Citadel Base:

- Macragge Blue
- Balthasar Gold
- Khorne Red
- Zandri Dust
- Mephiston Red
- Caliban Green
- Celestra Gray
- The Fang
- Mechanicus Standard Gray

Citadel Layer:

- Altdorf Guard Blue
- Calgar Blue
- Runefang Steel
- Dawnstone
- Gehenna's Gold
- Evil Sunz Scarlet
- Fire Dragon Bright
- White Scar
- Ushabti Bone
- Screaming Skull
- Wild Rider Red
- Warpstone Glow
- Moot Green
- Ulthuan Grey
- Ironbreaker
- Administratum Grey

Citadel Shade:

- Drakenhof Nightshade
- Nuln Oil
- Agrax Earthshade
- Carroburg crimson

Citadel Dry:

- Etherium Blue
- Necron Compound

Also some Hobby Snow (I'll search for an alternative later if need to)

That may seem like a pretty huge list for painting a scheme with 3 main colors, but keep in mind I'll be painting lots of details including the complete interior of every vehicle and their command consoles (I will magnetize the access hatches) and I'm also thinking of variations on the scheme to represent the different squads/ranks.

More on this later.

Color Scheme Mk.I

Before anything I'd like to post the color scheme I've been thinking of to go with this army. I've found some kind of middle ground between the ultrasmurfs and the black templars, a bit more ice related though. Here it is:

-Ultramarine Blue highlighted with Ice Blue base
-Ice Blue details
-Skull White shoulder pads and eagle.

(soz I'm still not used to the names of the new citadel paints range --')

Foreword

Hey everyone! I'm getting into WH40K again.
As some friends are starting a new army, i looked back at my 1k-1.5k of ultramarines and 0.5k of oldcrons, leaving me with a "meh" feeling. Everything swiftly undergone a break fluid bath to get the old fat and ugly layer of paint down. Was actually around 11-12 when i started back with Battle for Macragge. And now, 8 years later, I look back at my paint job wanting to just squash the things. The plastic models prove themselves hard to save. My poor job at gluing them back then does not help.

Well anyways, here I am back in WH40k, noting the huge changes in the rules and the fluff (tomb lords necrons, really?). I wanted to start anew. Naturally drawn to the smurfs, i thought of going back to a standard ultramarine army (got myself the new codex as well) but every army list I made finished with a dual-thunder-hammer-wielding-jumppacked-captain leading as much jump-infantry as I could fit within the points/choices. After a good hour and a half of hitting my shit-brains against a plast-crete wall, i figured maybe I was not to do a standard codex astartes army ever again, how sad (R.I.P my wet dreams of Riflemen Dreadnoughts).

So as i sought for a more up-close and personal army, i settled with the Black Templars codex, only to find 2 problems on my path right off the bat.

     1) The Black Templars codex dates back from the 4th Edition

     2) I don't really like the color scheme for the BT's (not that I hate it but I wouldn't field it)

For the 1st problem, I'll just go with the old codex + FAQ updates to see if it works. If not then I'll try to get the new rules from the Codex:SM to somehow fit for it to be both fair and up to date. For the latter one, I wanted to stay in the ranges of the ultramarines scheme, and the snowy Macragge theme. And as such it all came together. I will create a new Space Marine chapter, one to put together the ice theme of Macragge and the zeal of the Black Templars. Behold the defenders of humanity, who from the frostbitten home of their chapel fortress vowed to avenge their brethren from the enemies of their lineage.
